Water & Risk

The group Water & Risk quantifies and assesses risks in water supply and sanitation systems. Our research primarily focuses on developing innovative methods for risk modelling and evaluation, which we apply to support decision-making processes.

As a cross-disciplinary team, our areas of application are as diverse as the potential risks we address. These include health-related, environmental, physical, and digital risks. To effectively tackle this wide range of challenges, we collaborate closely with other research groups at KWB, combining specialised knowledge and methodological expertise.

Overview of Core Competencies:

  • Analysis and assessment of microbiological and chemical risks in the context of water reuse and bathing water quality

  • Modelling water losses caused by leaks in drinking water networks

  • Risk modelling for the condition assessment of sewer systems

  • Analysis of digital risks to ensure data integrity
