Stormwater management concepts offer innovative solutions to urban water management challenges, improve the quality of life in urban areas, and contribute to climate adaptation. The versatile applications of blue green infrastructure - such as façade greening and water surfaces – provide cooling and comfort on hot days. Green roofs and infiltration troughs protect our waterways from overloading from combined sewer overflows. The subsequent use of collected rainwater is also an effective measure to combat drought.
At KWB, we investigate how urban objectives can be achieved in conjunction with these water measures. We also focus on integrating blue green infrastructure into urban planning and ensuring it works optimally.
